    Adamawa State Governor, Admiral  Murtala Nyako (retd), and state officials in his convoy on Friday fled Shuwa in Madagali Local Government Area of the state upon learning of the advancement of Boko Haram members in the area.Nyako, who was on condolence visits to victims of Boko Haram attacks in Shuwa, Gulak and Michika, was at his first town of call  when he was alerted to the advancement of  insurgents in the area again.

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media said...

Kidnappers demand N500m ransom to free Pres. Jonathan's uncle

Abductors of Inengite Nitabai, the 70-year old uncle of President Goodluck Jonathan, have demanded a N500m ransom, Sahara Reporters report.

A security source said that the abductors threatened to kill him if the family fails to produce the money. The source also said the family had constituted a committee to evaluate the demand, establish negotiations with the abductors and facilitate his release.

He said the kidnappers had also warned against the involvement of security operatives in the matter.
"The kidnappers contacted the family four days after and demanded a whopping sum of N500m. It is believed that the family of the victim has begun negotiations with the hoodlums," he said.


Tension and panic set in when the kidnappers failed to establish any contact with the family of their victim three days after he was abducted.

That development was said to have rattled the Presidency, which reportedly ordered a massive deployment of security in Otuoke, the hometown of the Jonathans, and the Niger Delta creeks.
The gunmen abducted Nitabai on Sunday after collecting about N400,000 from his wife.

Nigerian student sentenced to death in Malaysia for drug trafficking

A 28 year old Nigerian student, Prince Bartholowmew Obitube, has been sentenced to death by a high court in Malaysia for trafficking drugs. The Shah Alam High Court yesterday Feb 26th gave the death penalty to Obitube after he was found guilty of trafficking cannabis, also known as marijuana.

The accused, a student with a private college in Kuala Lumpur, was arrested with 9,189kg of cannabis at Desa Satu Apartment, Gombak on Aug 20, 2011. According to the facts of the case, Obitube was caught by police from the Gombak Narcotic Crime Investigation Department, following a tip off, within the apartment area after he tried to run away with a backpack containing the drugs.

The offense, under the Dangerous Drugs Act in the country, provides a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Boko Haram strikes in Adamawa, kills 9, burn down churches, bank

Barely 24 hours after the attack on the Federal Government college in Yobe state where 43 young students were killed, suspected men of the Islamist group yesterday night attacked settlers at Kirchinga, Michika, Shuwari and Shuwa district all in Adamawa state. Several cars, houses, catholic churches, shops and even a First Bank Complex were burnt down.

The men also burnt down 3 catholic churches in Shuwari as well as a seminary school, Saint Joseph Minor Seminary in Shuwa.

The armed men came in nine Toyota Hilux vans, firing guns and throwing explosives. 9 people have so far been confirmed dead, including a staff of Bank of Agriculture. Spokesman of 23rd Armour Brigade, Yola, has confirmed the incident. Nine Toyota Hilux vans? Wow!

Man exchanges his 15yr Old Son for two bags of rice

A yet to be identified man on Monday successfully traded a 15-year old boy, Seun Aderinwale, for two bags of rice valued at N20,000 at Igando in Alimosho area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

According to eyewitness account, the man, whose address is unknown, went to 4, Ifesowapo Street, Igando, on Monday morning to buy two bags of rice from a shop owned by a woman identified as Iya Ibrahim.

The rice seller was not available at the time but her son, Ibrahim, agreed to the man’s proposal to drop Seun, an Aluminium apprentice, as collateral, in order to collect the two bags  of rice and return later to pay.

Yobe Massacre: How my mates were killed by Boko haram – 14yr old Survivor

14-year-old Ibrahim Musa Lampo, a JSS 2 student of Federal Government College, FGC, Bunu Yadi, Yobe State who was one of the lucky survivors of the Boko Haram massacre on Tuesday, which claimed the lives of 43 students. The insurgents also burnt the hostels, classrooms and more than 40 houses during the attack.

Nigerians In Spain Condemn Spanish Police Shooting Of African Immigrants On The High Sea

  It was a day that has generated global uproar when on Thursday the 6th of February 2014, the Spanish local border police opened fire on some 200 sub-Sahara African immigrants who were calling for rescue as they were attempting to cross the high sea from Morocco into the Spanish border town of Ceuta. So far, reports show that not less than 14 bodies have been recovered from the water and each of them with bullet wounds.

Describing the action as grave ‘inhumanity’, the Northern Observatory for Human Rights condemned the shooting as an action that ‘‘violates the international conventions on human rights".

Boko Haram Gunmen Attack Federal Govt College Yobe, Kill 29 Students! (Photo)

Gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members, early hours of today attacked a boarding school in Yobe State - Federal Government College Buni Yadi, Yobe State. and killed 29 innocent students, many of whom died in flames as the school was burned to the ground.

"Some of the students bodies were burned to ashes," said Yobe state Police Commissioner, Sanusi A Rufai who confirmed that twenty nine male students were killed and twenty four structures that include the
Administration block, students hostel and staff quarters were burnt down. No girl was touched.

Reports say the assailants stormed the school premises in 6 Hilux pick up vans and motorcycles and separated only the male students before they opened fire on them.

    "It was too horrible because, some of the students were slaughtered, some were burnt inside the hostel”, a source said.

Armed Security operatives were seen moving to the town, although there was no telecommunication network in the area. Army spokesman, Captain Eli Lazarus confirmed the attack adding that they are yet to know the number of casualties.

Someone said: 'Boko Haram wins every time, all we do is mourn and wait for the next attack!'. So true, and it truly is very painful.

Toba Falode didn't die in a car accident, he was pushed from a 17 storey building

The story that was put in the press was that Toba Falode, the only son of iconic sports journalist Aisha Falode died in a car accident but that's not how he died. According to a close family friend I spoke with, Toba, a student of SAE Institute in Dubai, was pushed from a 17-storey building by an Arab guy last week. Heard he held on to the railings for a few minutes after he was pushed, but eventually fell. The Dubai police have yet to arrest anyone for his murder. More details later...

Boko Haram men attack 2 villages in Borno + Govt seals border with cameroon

Boko Haram members yesterday Sunday Feb. 23rd attacked two villages, Mairari village of Konduga LGA and Izge village in Gwoza LGA in Borno state killing many people.

This is the second time the sect men are attacking Izge village. They had attacked the village on the 16th of February killing 63 people.  In this recent attack, the men came at about 2am, chanting war songs as they killed elderly people in the village and burnt down all the standing buildings in the village. All the men, women and youths fled the village immediately they heard the sect men coming.
In Mairari village, the men arrived at about 12noon, killing 2 people, burning 10 houses and vehicles

There were rumours that the federal government was planning to dissolve the democratic government in Borno state and bring in a military administrator to help stop the continuous attack by the sect men on the state but this has been refuted by the federal government.

Meanwhile the Nigerian government sealed a portion of its North Eastern border with Cameroon yesterday to block the movement of criminal groups from entering into the country

Gunmen Abduct President Jonathan's 'Father' In Otuoke.

According to Nationonlineng.net, without fear of President Goodluck Jonathan, ten gunmen sneaked into Otuoke, his hometown in Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, and whisked away his first cousin, Chief Inengite Nitabai. In a daring move, the heavily armed men stormed the expansive compound of Nitabai located before Otuoke bridge, off Otu-Okpoti-Ogbia Road and isolated their target without a gunshot.

Nitabai said to be about 70 years old is a compound chief in Jonathan’s Ebele family. He has been acting like a father to the President since Jonathan’s real biological father died, sources from the family said. Commotion and panic reigned supreme in the compound of Nitabai when the bandits gained access to the area between 8 and 9pm on Sunday.

Nigerian Student Murdered On Campus In Ghana

According to our sources, a 300 level student of the University of Cape Coast, identified as Mr. Godwin Awogbo, was found dead on Thursday within the campus premises.

His lifeless body was found with his intestines gushing out from his lower abdomen, close to the Brown Palace hostel.
Our sources gathered that the gruesome incident happened on Wednesday night.

The deceased Godwin Awogbo, according to his roommate, he tried calling him on his mobile phone when
he didn’t return to the room on time but couldn’t reach him. He got to know about the death when he received messages from friends in the morning informing him about the lifeless body they had found.
His roommate said he was a Nigerian who was studying Social Science at the University.
Circumstances leading to the death of Godwin could not be established and the police have been invited to take over the case.

Court Sentences Arowolo, Man who Killed his Banker-wife to Death

A Lagos High Court in Ikeja has sentenced to death Akolade Arowolo for the murder of his banker wife, Titilayo, who he repeatedly stabbed to death, at least 76 times, at their residence in Isolo, Lagos, on June 24, 2011.

Justice Lateefat Okunnu, in her judgment on Friday, held that even though there was no eyewitness to the incident, the circumstantial evidence given by the prosecution proved the murder charge against the convict beyond all reasonable doubt.

The 32-year-old man, Arowolo was arraigned for murder on December 21, 2011, after he murdered his
wife, Titilayo, a Skye Bank employee, at their residence at No. 8, Akindehinde Street, Isolo, Lagos.

Forensic pathologist, Prof John Obafunwa, who carried out the autopsy on the corpse of the deceased, had said there were at least 76 stab wounds on the body. He described some of the wounds as penetrating to heart, and damaged the organ and others including, the diaphragm, lung and the liver of the deceased.

Zimbabwe's president Robert Mugabe turns 90, says not retiring yet

Zimbabwe's longest serving president, Robert Mugabe turned 90 today and in his address to his party faithfuls, said he's not ready to vacate the president's sit yet

"When the day comes and I retire, yes, sure, the day will come, but I do not want to leave my party in tatters. I want to leave it intact".

Mugabe has said that he would leave when he is 94years old, that would be in 2018, after completing his current tenure which he was elected for last year.

Mugabe has ruled Zimbabwe for 34 years now since the country gained independence. He is the longest serving President in the whole of Africa and is also the oldest president Africa has ever had.

Presidency Welcomes Sanusi’s Decision to go to Court, Denies Giving Directive for his Arrest

The presidency has welcomed former CBN governor Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi's decision to seek legal redress on his suspension. The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Reuben Abati, who made the presidency’s position known yesterday afternoon during an interview with State House correspondents in Abuja, said Sanusi had the right to challenge his suspension.

    “If he does (goes to court), he is free to do so. Individuals have the right to express themselves under the constitution”, he said.

The presidential aide, however, stressed that Jonathan did not remove Sanusi, saying he only suspended him
pending the outcome of the ongoing investigations into all the allegations leveled against him.

He said the investigations began first week of May last year, adding that part of the allegations against Sanusi bothered on issues including the apex bank’s unlawful expenditures on intervention projects across the country without any approval.

Abati also denied speculations that there was a pending directive for Sanusi’s arrest.

    “I’m not aware of any directive that he (Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) should be arrested as of this moment, I’m not aware of that. But, of course you know that under the enabling act of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, where an indictment is established and all that, the law could take its course.

    But, as of this moment, I’m not aware of any directive that he should be arrested”.


He also said Sanusi’s suspension had nothing to do with the revelations he had made regarding the allegedly unremitted $20bn to the federation account by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

Sen Yerima, 29 Others Charged With Robbery, Attempted Murder

A Zamfara High Court, sitting in Gusau, on Thursday adjourned a case of armed robbery and attempted murder preferred against Sen. Ahmed Yarima  and 29 others to  April 8.

Yarima, a former governor of Zamfara, was arraigned in the court by the Inspector-General of Police on an eight-count charge of armed robbery, conspiracy and attempt to commit murder, among others.

Yarima appeared before Justice Bello Gummi of the High Court along with the 29 co-accused persons.

Confession – How A Married Man I Met On BBM Almost Killed Me With s*x And Drugs.

I am a graduate and currently serving in Kaduna. I could have runced it, but I needed somewhere to clear my head and forget about my ugly encounter. Here is my story.

I happened to have a married man as a contact on my BBM. He had been asking me out for over six months and I refused to date him. As time went on, he invited me clubbing with him when his wife was outside the country, and I went with him all night. We spent most of the night at Swe bar, Lagos.

I also met his clique of friends, married as well with their various mistresses. We had ‘mad’ fun. After all the clubbing and drinking, he lodged me in a hotel somewhere in Obalende. I felt sort of safe with him. We did not have se’x, but he made sweet love to me and touched me in places I had never ever imagined.

He kissed me passionately but guess what? He did not have se’x with me. We did all sorts but there was no penetration. So, to an extent, I trusted he was a good person to be around with. I did not know that it was all part of the plan.

He gave me N10,000 and put me in a cab to go home the next morning. We kept talking and chatting and sending nak’ed pictures to each other and he told me naughty things of how he wanted to whisper things in my ear, I blushed. We didn’t see for two weeks and that was because his wife just came back from Turkey.

One faithful evening, he pinged me that he was organising a beach party/boat cruise and that he would love for me to be his date and that he wanted to open a BBM chat, as a medium for his friends and my friends to interact. I was excited about it, I just wanted to have fun. I was able to get five of my very hot friends.

The BBM group opened and we got chatting. I also realise that majority of them were married and working in reputable firms. It was fun and we didn’t mind if they were married, we just wanted to have fun, as well as some other girls apart from my friends in the group.

We chatted exclusively, sent pictures to the BBM group to introduce ourselves, and we had opened group conversations pending the beach party. And as excited as we were, we went shopping for nice se’xy beach wears.

The D-day finally came, we all assembled at the Lagos Island Boat Club. I was wowed because it was a high class party. We were cruising in a boat loaded with goodies drinks and hot babes, and as well ‘MARRIED MEN’. I did not care, I just said in my mind that I would not roll with married men anymore after this, that for now, all I wanted to do was to catch some fun. After all, I wasn’t paying bills.

We got there, it was a private beach resort. Most of the beach facilities I got to see there were owned by multinational companies. We got out of the boat, and went to where we were partying. It was a duplex made with wood. It was a very nice setting.

I felt comfortable because it even had a fence around it separating it from other beach houses around. So, there was privacy and of course bouncers (heavy looking guys) guarding the place. I said to myself, this must be heaven, I must be dreaming.

Anyways, we felt free with each other because we had been chatting. It was 5:30pm and the party just started. We had drinks flowing from the private bar tender which happens to be owned by one of the men in the group. Reality struck when I realised that I was feeling dizzy and feeling really funny and light headed. Not only me, but other girls around me too noticed there was something strange about it.

I was also feeling Hot as hell! I had been drugged. They monitored us and when they knew the drug had really gone deep into our system, they moved us up into the main beach house. I could still see faces, but was too weak and Hot to react.

Mr B, the man who took me clubbing, carried me in his hands like a sacrifice and put me down on the floor just as other men also did with their girls. We were eight in numbers; 8 girls, 8 guys, and they all stri*ped us down and had se’x with us.

I enjoyed it a bit because I was Hot. It was a mixed feeling because I cried, I moaned, but I did not know how many times he came into me. He pounded me hard. I was dizzy, but he grabbed me with force. All I could notice was the wedding ring on his finger. I thought of how wicked and miserable some married can be. How inhuman and heartless they could be.

All of them took turns in switching partners and slept with all of us. I passed out. That was the last thing I could remember. I felt water poured on me. I noticed all the other girls around me too were half nak’ed and some stark nak’ed.

We spent the night at the beach, but the men were no where to be found. I looked round me and all I could see was packs of used condoms. I ran to pick my cloths and possibly raise an alarm. I got dressed, found my phone with an envelope. It contained N16,000 and a note asking us to take N2000 each for transport. Tears of anger and rage filled my eyes and the girls around me as well.

“We were drugged and used like tissue paper. I grabbed my phone and noticed a ping came in. I checked my phone and I noticed the BBM group had been deleted, and a message via BBM from MR B came in. He threatened me that if I say a word to anyone, I would regret it.

I told him he was a bastard, and he said try it. A picture came in, several pictures. In fact, they were pictures of us being nak’ed on the floor. Pictures of the humiliating us but they blurred the faces of the men. In total, I got 20 pictures. I was not myself for a month.

I went back to school, I had no one to talk to. The rest of the semester was hell for me. My CGPA dropped drastically. It was the worst out of the worst result I ever had.

Till today, my friends and I have not discussed this with anyone, but all I could do when I heard of Cynthia’s story was to narrate my own ordeal anonymously and spread the news, the word, and pray they (ladies who do runs) see it and changed their ways.

I am now born again. I have given my life to Christ. I fear men so much that I cannot even move close to them. I still have nightmares, but with time, God will strengthen me and I will move on. My advice to single ladies out there is, do not be desperate for fun. Pray to God to open your eyes of understanding, and pray hard. He who kneels before God will stand before kings and queens.

To all married women, pray hard to God to intervene in your marriages and turn your husbands from bad habits and bad friends. As for me, I do not think I ever want to get married or date a man again. That chapter has been closed for good in my life.

Former Minister of State for Works, Isaiah Balat, dies

A former Minister of State for Works & Housing during President Olusegun Obasanjo administration, Isaiah Balat, has died, aged 61. He died today around 1pm in Abuja.

Late Isaiah Balat served as Minister from 1999-2000 and was also elected a Senator in 2003 where he represented Kaduna South Senatorial District from 2003-2007. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Fashola Signs No Smoking Bill Into Law

Dear smokers who live in Lagos state, governor Fashola has signed the No Smoking in Public Places Bill into law. It means it is now illegal to lit your cigarettes in public places e.g public toilets, museums, nurseries, any facility used for the care of children etc. According to the law, people who smoke in public places will risk a 3-year jail term. Owners of establishments must also put a 'No Smoking' sign around their property or face 6 months imprisonment or N100,000 fine.

Corporate organizations that don't place the ‘No Smoking’ sign within its premises, would be liable to N250, 000 fine.

The best part is, anyone who smokes in the presence of a child shall be liable on conviction to a fine of N15, 000 or 1 month imprisonment. I love this. Second hand smoking is just as dangerous!
